Grigory Rasputin in Yusupovskiy Palace

This exposition is not about to describe in detail the events of the December night of 1916, many of us know this story since  school, and the tour guides in the palace are wonderful –  they will tell you not only about the official version of the murder, but also complement the story with alternative points of view that night.

First we get to the conspirators room. Here are wax figures of Dr. Lazovert, State Duma Deputy Purishkevich, Grand Duke Dmitry Pavlovich and Lieutenant Sukhotin. The exposition of documents and photos presented here is interesting: we can see the originals of the notes that Rasputin wrote to his high-ranking patrons.

The last part of our journey into the past takes place in the basement, where they tried to poison the “old man”. By the way, at the time of the murder Rasputin was only 47 years old. In this room we see the figures of Felix Yusupov and Grigory Rasputin, a table is laid between them. In the room next to the basement you can see various photographs and historical documents.

And from the small window under the ceiling, a playground is visible – time was ordered in its own way. Where the interiors of the palace once shone and destinies were made, little Petersburgers play. And sometimes bouquets of fresh flowers appear at the window – admirers of Rasputin, and those who are simply keen on this mysterious story are enough even a hundred years after the events.
